Title: Cheetah Verde, 2D Mixed Media/Collage
No Image Available The challenge of this piece was to work with a limited color scheme and materials. Henri Matisse was my inspiration with his simplified paper cut-outs. I chose a cheetah as my subject because its markings would provide easy contrast against its yellow coat. In the background are hints of leafy, jungle vegetation. The cheetah's long, slender body attempts to create movement and pull the viewer's eye to its intense stare. It is my hope that its gaze captivates the viewer and draws them into the forest. I cut out pieces of colored paper and glued them down to create the piece. I learned that there is something to be said for creating simplistic art and focusing on only the most important elements of a picture. Sometimes less is more!
