Title: Spinning Horse, 2D Mixed Media/Collage
No Image Available I absolutely love art. I typically do graphite drawings, but I thought it would be fun to try something different. I also love crayons and always thought it would be interesting to melt them in a project. I definitely imagined a horse in my project from the beginning. I liked the idea of melting the crayons - reminds me of rain. I purchased a box of 120 color crayons but used 63 colors. Putting the colors in the best order was the hardest part. I glued my crayons on moving from warm colors to cool colors, with black and white on each end to help balance the colors.I used a hair dryer to melt the crayons. I then drew my horse and rider. I made the silhouette stark black since it is the focal point. I used crayons to intensify the action of the horse. This painting shows my interest in horses, the western heritage and my love for colors. People are always in awe of a horse that can spin fast, and I thought a painting of a "spinning" horse made the project so much more interesting.
