Title: Wise Eyes, 2D Mixed Media/Collage
No Image Available I love barn owls and decided to create the image of its face. I had a good idea of what it might look like but I wasn't sure. I drew the picture on paper the same size as the foil, and then transferred it onto the copper. I used wooden shaping tools to make the eyes and beak bulge out. Then I used the shaping tools to make lines to show the down. I cut it out and pored liver of sulfur on it to turn it black. The liver of sulfur stained the eyes so that there was less contrast. I used steel wool to get rid of the unwanted black areas. I tried to give the eyes and beak the most contrast. I used the down in the face to add unity. The picture was pretty balanced. This piece shows my interest in owls. The owl has large eyes to imply that it can see all things. No matter where you are or what you are doing, there is always someone watching you, and you should be wise.
