Title: Sea of Ovals, Ceramics
This is a ceramic bowl made from clay. I cut the ovals out with a cookie cutter and placed them one by one, using the slip-and-score technique, into a mold so I could get the shape of a bowl. Once I got that all done and it dried, I painted it; cobalt blue on the inside and Caribbean blue on the outside to create contrast. I also picked these colors because they reminded me of the ocean. My intention in this is to show that one thing can impact another. If one oval was placed wrong, then another oval would be placed wrong and it could impact the whole project. But when everything fits together, there's harmony and beauty like the waves on the ocean.
