Title: Tape Brushes, 2D Mixed Media/Collage
I decided to create a project with painted tape. This art piece took me quite a while to create, although I am very proud of this accomplishment. I took pictures of many still-life objects at an unusual angle looking for an interesting composition. After viewing the images, I chose a bucket of paint brushes from a bird's eye view to use as a reference. I edited the image in photo-shop with the "cut out" filter to specifically show each individual brush and shade of black and white. I simply, just wanted to challenge myself. And I certainly did with this project. First I drew out my image and then painted the black areas. Then I painted various values of grays on masking tape and torn them in pieces to add details. I used multiple values of black to white to create a sort of depth when you look at this piece. The black verses white contrast really shows each individual brush on its own, but it also shows the piece as a whole. I'm extremely happy to show this piece, to show its texture and dexterity.
