Title: Age Old, Ceramics
This vessel I made seems unique and fun. It was originally larger but unfortunately the top caved in. Because I loved the unique bumps and marks that were in the walls of this piece, I decided to peel off the top half and resurrect the remaining shape. I pulled a new top but kept the rib ridges because they reminded me of rings on a tree (representing age and resilience), just like how I was saving my initial piece. I didn't have any initial concept when I started this vessel, I just let myself respond to the clay and be creative at the wheel. I also added shell designs and slip around the base to give the glaze an interesting look. I chose three different glazes and layer them to get an alluring end result.
