Title: Saucing the Biscuit, 2D Mixed Media/Collage
I used the pallet approach for the background and foreground because it was an challenging new technique that our instructor taught us and I liked the feel of the palette knife on the canvas; the raw and jagged edge of the paint off the knife worked well with the composition. I decided that I could use that new technique and combine a loose painting style with edgy detail. Working with large, medium and small spaces and detail in my composition I found that those tow techniques easily complimented each other. When my art instructor asked "what can you do to take it to another level?"; I went from a painting to mixed media. I focused the changes that I needed to make on color, balance, perspective, and relief. My painting changed so many times because I wanted to create more depth. The hockey stick and puck come alive and fly right off the canvas and I was pleased with the outcome. I accomplished my goal and learned how to go beyond a flat surface to create a unique piece of art.
