Week: 09/10/2012 Instructor: Constance Knott Academics
Announcements: We have been working hard! The little choir that could. We are a smaller group in number but certainly not in ability or work ethic and attitude! This week will be a hard work week as we pull together many concepts from the first three weeks.
Assessments: Journals for reflection, goal setting, sentence writing practice on concepts and terms. Slates for music rhythms, reading and writing solfeggio, T/F quizzes. Quiz on Thursday
Singing Skills: Vertical space with vowels, sending the sound forward. Review alignment, breath energy, relaxation of the mouth, throat, and jaw. We are doing formative assessments with self analysis, small group demonstrations and informal evaluations
Music Reading and Theory: First three weeks was spent on comprehension of the solfeggio and scale relationships, singing with hand signs, intervals, patterns combined with rhythmic patterns. We started writing of same last week, and will do more formalized reading this week
Music Analysis and Listening Analysis: Finished group analysis of "Come to the Music", been highlighting terms of music elements and their meaning. Will begin two sections of listening analysis as a group and listen to performance of one of our songs together
Repertoire: Work hard on Gloria this week, getting second half of Boston. Start the girls' piece and the boys' piece.
