Moving on to Veteran's Day and Christmas music
Vocal Jazz, Boys' 50's and Choralaires in full swing
We continue the ongoing work of building this choir into the best they can be
Voice Skills:
We worked the Seven Fundamentals for Singers all last quarter. Second quarter we begin Five Fundamentals for Choral Singing. In other words; what is necessary for our GROUP to sound good? This week's topic: Breath Energy affects Blend (breathing anatomy and breathing process as well)
Reading Skills/Theory Skills: We will examine the keys our newest selections, scales and chords. Continue our sightreading work and independent musicianship through multi-tasking. We continue to sing rounds and do exercises that enhance understanding of note reading and chords
Music Analysis Skills/Listening Skills: Some of our pieces will be analyzed as a group; the students will be assigned two pieces to analyze on their own before week 8 of the quarter.
Continue to work on Hallowed Halls, a band/choir joint selection for Veteran's Day. Students are assisting in the selection process for Christmas Music. So far we have chosen "Good News", "Bell Carol of the Kings". We will look at a Calypso piece and discuss whether to once again do the Hallelujah Chorus. Two other pieces we will look over include Sleigh Ride and Tribute of Carols.
