Announcements:Hallelujah Chorus invitational letter goes out this week. Avon orders are due this week. Special groups meet as scheduled, they will be performing along with the jazz band for WG Lions Christmas party on Dec. 5. Students needing makeup work for absences should pick up the options available to them this week.
Singing Skills: Continuing emphasis on resonation and how to achieve it as well as the larynx anatomy. Intonation will be reviewed: how the brain in conjunction with the ear works to achieve it and ways to practice for improvement. New this week is onsets and releases in conjunction with good diction.
Music Analysis Skills: Students received a song analysis form last week for a selection of their choice; the information for reference is in their portfolios. All students got a study sheet for Bell Carol of the Kings. As part of the "reading across the curriculum" emphasis, we have been discussing, defining, and finding examples to illustrate terminology currently being used in choir. There are voice skills terms, music terms, and song text vocabulary words
Music Reading: we have been singing scales, scale tones and chords in conjunction with our work on singing in tune. We will be sightreading two new rounds this week. We continue to practice sight reading exercises
Repertoire: Our challenge pieces this week are Sleigh Ride and Hallelujah Chorus. We will continue to add instruments to Calypso Noel and some movement. Sleigh Ride will be examined for the text literacy and meaning; work a literacy lesson
