Vocal Jazz, Choralaires, Boys' 50's as normally scheduled. Students seeking some makeup work can begin with a study paper on The Hallelujah Chorus.
Invitations have gone out for the Hallelujah Chorus sing... parents and grandparents are very welcome!! 6:30 P.M. rehearsal in the choir room on December 20.
Voice Skills: As a choir we are delving into voice skills vocabulary, music terminology, and text meanings as part of the reading across the curriculum improvement emphasis in our school. Students have study sheets and we probe the meanings of about six terms each week. This week we will be creating a study sheet that covers the concepts that have been learned throughout the semester in voice skills. This will serve as a study guide for their semester test Dec. 22.
Reading Skills: we have 4 new rounds to sightread, and we will use 4 traditional Christmas Carols for sight reading the next two weeks. We will do scale review in the keys of A major, D Major and F Major
Music Analysis Skills: As part of the National Standards the students do two types of song analysis each quarter. They have portfolios with information to help them. They will all do one analysis of The Bell Carol of the Kings, and they have a choice of any other song to analyze.
These will be due on December 15.
Repertoire: Hallelujah Chorus part 2, Sleigh Ride continue to master the words and notes.
Listening Skills: Bell Carol of the Kings, Good News, and Calypso Noel we are at the point where student input is encouraged to really make music. we will be adding more instruments and some movement this week.
