9-12 Concert Choir 2nd Q 11.12 Lesson Plans
Week: 11/07/2011 Instructor: Constance Knott Academics
The choir is working on "Thank You Soldier" for Veteran's Day
We are gearing up for our Christmas Concert, and will be getting letters out to neighboring churches for the "Hallelujah Chorus".
The first Avon shipment will be going out on Monday. Students continue to work on fundraising to reach a Christmas deadline of having at least $200 in there personal accounts.
Music Reading/Theory:
During this quarter our warmups will concentrate on sight reading. We are moving into keys other than C for further practice and include rhythms. Part of our practice will include discerning the key signature in order to determine 'do'
Voice Skills:
This quarter the emphasis moves from singing well as an individual to singing well as a choir. There are five fundamentals. The one we are concentrating on this week is Blend (as a result of) Breath Energy. We will also look at breathing anatomy and the breath process
Music Analysis/Vocabulary:
We will start our vocabulary page this week. Three terms or words from the text are chosen for each piece we perform, and nine terms are chosen from the voice skills/theory studies we do as a choir. This week we will do terms from "Mary's Boy Child" and "Angels We Have Heard on High".
The selections for are Christmas Concert are the following: (we have introduced all but one, and are working the first part of each)
"Angels We Have Heard On High"
"Mary's Boy Child"
"Hallelujah Chorus"
"Good King Kong Looked Out"
"Welcome! Welcome! 'Tis the Season"
"Silver Bells"
