Week: 01/24/2011 Instructor: Constance Knott Academics
Announcements: Special groups as follows: vocal jazz on Monday, Choralaires on Wednesday, Boys' 50's on Friday. Students took part in Barbershop clinic last Saturday. Best ever! Wonderful growing experience for the students. Cookie dough sales are in progress. Money and orders are due next Tuesday, February 1st. Students have started volunteering for the variety show that happens while concert goers are enjoying pie and ice cream. We also are gearing up for solo and ensemble contest, ensembles are lining up as well as solos; music and accompanists are next. We like to be ready to go as soon as the pops concert is over.
Voice Skills: because of the weather interruptions we will review a lot of last week's goals: Four Fundamentals of Song Interpretation. We continue with breath articulation, text(diction, vowels,resonance) and this week we will add energized rhythms. Also we will be revisiting the science of the vocal anatomy
Theory and Reading Skills: We are working in the key of F, chords and interval reading. We are going to begin work on singing chromatic scales this week. Also this week its time to start defining and highlighting text vocabulary, music terminology and voice terminology that corresponds with our music and skills concepts this quarer.
Listening and Music Analysis:We will begin our analysis papers this week.
Repertoire: Work the three pops concert songs diligently, especially in regards to rhythms. Contest selections continue analysis and move forward with song one (pages 3 and 4) and start our second piece.
