Monday:
Announcements:Lots happening this week. First of all, CONCERT IS RESCHEDULED TO MONDAY FEBRUARY 14TH.This is a combined venture with the junior high. Students will be bringing home a note to explain everything. Vocal Jazz is on Monday, Choralaires is on Wednesday, and Boys' 50's is on Friday. Secondly: calling in all cookie dough orders with money, no later than Tuesday. We are working feverishly on our Pops Concert music and Variety Show. Solos, duets, and ensembles participants are established and they continue to look at selection choices this week. Hopefully the weather will permit us to work every day this week!
Tuesday:
Voice Skills: We have been working consistently on our "synthesis goal": Bringing a Song to Life: Four Fundamentals of Interpretation. Energized breath for appropriate articulation, text produced with good diction, vowels and resonance, and currently, energizing rhythms and underlying pulse (as well as how we approach the beat in a given song or phrase)
Wednesday:
Reading and Theory Skills: We continue our focus on F Major and d minor; reviewing scale structure, singing chords, singing the scale, and singing exercises and rounds in those two keys. We will sight sing a four part chorale this week
Thursday:
Music Analysis: Students will receive their portfolios this week with the papers that will be due week 7 of the quarter. Also we will be starting our vocabulary papers this week (voice skills terms, music terms from the songs, and text words from the songs)
Friday:
Repertoire:We will be putting finishing touches on our three pops selections and adding some riser choreography to You Can't Stop the Beat.
With our contest songs we will do 2 more pages of each.
