Monday:
Announcements: Big sigh of relief and contentment upon the completion of the Pops Concert last week. We immediately launched into intense study and practice of our contest music. That deadline is in three weeks: 15 rehearsals plus two after school. We had a breakthrough last Thursday however, and the Mozart should come together quite well. We will have Choralaires on Wednesday, Boys' 50's on Thursday and Vocal Jazz on Friday
Tuesday:
Voice Skills: In the third quarter we concentrate on putting all the concepts together to create a full choral sound to our singing. The focus is on text meaning, diction, phrasing for beauty and expressiveness of the line.All components from the first semester come into play: tone, resonance, breath energy, articulation, and vowel formation.
Wednesday:
Reading skills: We have been making good progress on our G Major reading. This week we will work with four part chordal and reading rounds. We continue to read the new rhythms throughout our contest piece. The Mozart piece lends itself well to sight singing.
Thursday:
Analysis: the students will get a required analysis form that is to be completed by Friday. They may choose either contest piece or one of the three pieces from the Pops concert.
Friday:
Repertoire: we will not start anything new at this time. We will continue working diligently on "Son De Camaguey" and "Laudate Dominum"
