A Religious and Commercial Heritage in Literature: in contrast to the sweetness of Taylor and Bradstreet: Jonathan Edwards. Read "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God". Respond to questions 1 and 2b. Make an extended metaphor with devices other than what are seen in Edwards.
Wednesday:
9/11 discussion.
Thursday:
Summarize Puritan literature. Jump to Romanticism: definition/philosophical tenents.
Read Bryant, "Thanatopsis". Respond to questions 1, 2, 4b.
Friday:
Do spell/vocab worksheet on "Thanatopsis". Discuss questions on "Thanatopsis". Read "A Walk at Sunset", questions; read "Inscription for the Entrance to a Wood", "The West Wind", "The Journey of Life", questions.
