Topic: No School- Labor Day
Tuesday:
Topic: Nitrogen cycle/ Community ecology
Lesson: We will finish up chapter 2 on cycles by talking about how nitrogen moves through an ecosystem. Students will finish up their trophic levels menu and work on the chapter 2 review wkst. We will once more talk about what is expected in their portfolio, which is due tomorrow for the first time. We will start chapter 3, talking about community ecology.
Assignment: Work on chapter 2 review wkst/ have portfolio ready to turn in Wednesday.
Wednesday:
Topic: Community ecology
Standard: 9.4.2.2.1
Lesson: Portfolios are due. We will continue talking about community ecology. Students will learn about the factors that determine where an organism can live and how ecosystems go through orderly change. Students will have some time in class to work on their review wkst.
Assignment: Finish the chapter 2 review wkst
Thursday:
Topic: Population ecology
Lesson: Students will learn about population ecology, including dispersion patterns and density dependent and independent factors. We will talk about carrying capacity and do a wkst activity to reinforce the concept.
Assignment: Work on the chapter 3-4 review wkst
Friday:
Topic: Human population
Lesson: We will finish up our ecology unit by talking about the human population. We will be using our book to analyze graphs about human population growth and the potential problems we may face when exceeding our carrying capacity.
Assignment: Work on chapter 3-4 review wkst/ Study chapters 2-4
