Charger Chorus 7-8 2nd Q 09.10 Lesson Plans
Week: 01/04/2010 Instructor: Constance Knott Academics
Announcements:We will look at the calendar, review the selections we will be doing, discuss how we would like the concert to go. Then we will set goals for effort and participation as well as singing and reading improvement.
Repertoire/Music Analysis: The music we ordered has arrived. We will work on two new selections this week: We Go Together, and Praise Goes Round, Alleluia. We will do two different types of music elements analysis with these two songs. In our goal setting for repertoire we will discuss choreography, accompaniments to be added, and staging of our songs for the concert.
Voice Skills: We will review relaxation, alignment, breathing, and basic vowels. We will continue our discovery work with vertical vowels, and begin the new concept of resonance.
Reading/Rhythm Skills: We will take time to emphasize particular rhythmic phrases within the music we are studying. We will continue our stepwise interval reading of bass clef and treble clef.
Relating Choral Music to other Disciplines: The students will be presented with approximately 40 different suggestions for them to choose from for a topic that relates music we are singing to social studies, history, other cultures, visual art,and mathematics. They will choose a partner and will have about 6 weeks to create a way to present their findings. There will be about 10 suggested methods from which they can choose; these will be on display at the concert.
