On the docket this week are "Rhythm of Life", "Buffalo Gals" "Gloria" "When the Saints Go Marching In" and "Sally Gardens" Should be a fun week.
Tuesday:
News: If students are absent they have the option of taking a mini voice lesson, doing a makeup sheet, or letting subsequent grades override the deficit. I regularly remind the choir members to talk to me whenever they have concerns regarding their grades.
The choir festival will be the 16th annual, held in Westbrook on the Tuesday before MEA. Parents are always welcome and encouraged to attend the afternoon concert. We'll have more news later.
The last week of September we'll have tryouts for special groups:Boys' 50's, Vocal Jazz, and Choralaires.

Wednesday:
Voice Skills: We will continue diligently to work on efficient breathing, posture, adding sound to the breath, opening mouth for tall vowels. These skills are approached in a discovery manner.Later in the week we'll work with resonance. We will continue using rounds and folksongs to apply our learning.
Thursday:
Reading Skills: Last week we stayed primarily in the key of C. Level one will continue, but level 2 will move on to G, and level 3 will practice those and the key of F for our sightreading.
Friday:
Music Analysis Skills: At the beginning of the learning process of each piece we examine the rhythms, melody, harmony, and structure of the song. Then we take a close look at the text to get a sense of the meaning of the piece and the emotions to be communicated. Then comes the process of learning the notes and rhythms as we put it all together. We will be in these beginning stages for each song this week.
