Choir 2nd Q 06.07 Lesson Plans
Week: 12/04/2006 Instructor: Constance Knott Academics
Announcements: Well, we made good progress last week on many fronts. The boys returned to the 'back of the room' after spending about a month 'in front'! We have a few more notes and rhythms to chase down on two pieces. This will be a normal week for the most part with special group rehearsals and choir rehearsals.
Voice Skills: The buzzword is resonance. We did a lot of listening and comparing as the seniors and juniors demonstrated for the choir different ways to accomplish more resonance and blend. We will be looking at attacks and releases, and singing in tune as well this week. Good breath energy solves just about all singing challenges.
Analyis: Since resonance and vowel production are main focus points this week we will continue to examine the texts of our songs. We'll again do discovery, demonstration, and compare and contrast to bring home major points.
Music: We are getting closer to learning all of the Hallelujah Chorus. We reached the top of page 13, now on to page 16!! "Jazz Gloria", and "As Lately We Watched" are completely learned. We have one more page on "Jesus Jesus Rest Your Head" Next we'll turn our attention to polishing the pieces.
Theory and Music Reading: These have been temporarily been placed on the back burner as we've been striving in other concepts. We have been rehearsing chromatic singing however, as well as practicing intervals. Hopefully this week we'll return to more exercises and practices in different keys
