Choir 2nd Q 06.07 Lesson Plans
Week: 12/11/2006 Instructor: Constance Knott Academics
Announcements: Happy December everyone. This will be another busy week for the choir. We are looking for the cookie dough to arrive later in the week. We are down to 6 rehearsals until concert time. Next week we'll record for the radio and start thinking about projects in the new year! Special groups will be gearing up on the memory of their pieces and getting them performance ready.
Voice Skills: We continue to explore with types of downbeats, attacks and releases, phrasing and breath articulation in each of our pieces. Knowing that breath energy creates better blend within each section we continue our emphasis on it. Vowels and diction: we continue to explore the text for pronunciation (voice skills)and creating beautiful tone with proper vowel production
Music Analysis: Phrasing as it pertains to the meaning of the text and dynamics are main focal points this week. Our repertoire includes very contrasting songs to examine. Also we will look at dynamics and the emotional content of each piece.
Music: Memorizing and polishing are the goals for the week. Jesus Jesus needs the most attention. As Lately, Gloria, and Jazz Gloria need the attention to details and finishing touches. The Hallelujah Chorus is really coming together for the students now.
Theory and Listening Skills: Both of these will be addressed next week on Wed., Thurs. and Fri. For now, we will be concentrating on getting the choir performance ready for the concert Dec. 18th
