Monday:
Announcements:This is a very attentive and mature choir this fall. They are very willing learners and participants.
Big week ahead. The Christmas concert is in three weeks. We are working diligently on all of our selections. Last call for money from Avon orders. The cookie dough orders will need to be sent via internet next weekend, so the orders are due on Friday! These will be entirely prepaid orders to alleviate collecting difficulties.
Tuesday:
Singing Skills: We are presently concentrating on the placement of sound for clarity and fullness as well as the importance of vowels in overall tone. We continue to emphasize posture/breathing/energy and relaxation in the process of singing.
Wednesday:
Music Reading Skills: We have been working the chromatic scale for in-tune singing, reading G major exercises, two and three part chorales. We've also been learning one of our Christmas pieces without the use of piano, and another with very little assistance to hone our reading skills.
Thursday:
Music Analysis Skills: We've been looking carefully at Handel's Hallelujah Chorus. The arrangement of "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" is marked in great detail, as is Bach's "Break Forth O Beauteous Heavenly Light", giving plenty of direction for interpretation.
Friday:
Music: "Be Not Afraid" is quite easy and is coming along fine,"We Wish" we are going into great detail as we do each section (immersion learning style) "Hallelujah Chorus" we are note and rhythm learning section by section. This week we'll concentrate on p.8-12. "Now it is Christmas Time" is learned so we'll delve into details. The same is true of "Break Forth" and "Still, Still,Still"
