Choir 2nd Q 08.09 Lesson Plans
Week: 12/01/2008 Instructor: Constance Knott Academics
'Tis the season to be jolly! Welcome December! We have a busy two weeks ahead of us. Special groups are as scheduled and we will work hard on our repertoire in those ensembles as well as in choir. We postponed our cookie dough sales to later this winter. We are going to host a young men's a cappella group on December 20 in the auditorium. They sang in Westbrook this summer, and the lead singer is a grandson of Betty Rupp.
Singing Skills: Vocal anatomy and resonance will be our discovery concepts this week. We continue as always with breathing, alignment, energizing the tone, and basic balanced tone qualities.
Reading Skills:We continue to practice reading stepwise patterns of do-re-mi- fa- sol, and rhythms of half notes, quarter notes, rests and whole notes. The emphasis is on independent musicianship; doing the reading/singing 'by yourself'
Music Analysis Skills: Study Canon Carol and Christians All especially looking at form and harmony styles
Repertoire: Diction of the text, attacks and releases, phrasing and rhythmic integrity will be the goals this week. Hopefully some memory besides.
