Monday:
Announcements: February is just around the corner! I can't believe we have already been in school a month since Christmas! Although the weather will be in the deep freezer this week, we should be making warm sounds of music as we continue our pieces for the Pops concert and get a good start on our contest music. We welcome four new members to choir this semester. We spent a day last week determining the best seating arrangement for 8 sections of the choir. Now, armed with new places, folders, music, and a new quarter ahead we are good to go! I will be talking with students who have incompletes to finish up. Special groups will meet as usual this week.
Tuesday:
Music: We need to secure "Country Roads" and "Seasons of Love" this week. We'll look over "Loch Lomond" right away on Monday, and introduce "If Music Be the Food of Love" again on about Wednesday.
Two other Pops numbers are getting close to ready.
Wednesday:
Voice Skills: Once those with incompletes finish up, we'll review all the concepts from semester 1. Our new concept this semester is more broad: "Singing a beautiful phrase" This includes using appropriate dynamics, interpreting the text, using good diction, then shaping the vowels while energizing the breath to sing with good tone.
Thursday:
Music Analysis: Our music analysis this quarter ties in directly with the voice skill of singing beautiful phrases. We will work together to experiment and decide how to interpret and sing phrases within our songs
Friday:
Listening Analysis: We have some old risers at our disposal to use for listening, demonstration, and recording of smaller groups. The plan is to do this at least once a week.
