Choir 3rd Q 06.07 Lesson Plans
Week: 02/26/2007 Instructor: Constance Knott Academics
Announcements: Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow! What a beautiful snowfall! Now we need calm: no wind! This will be another busy week for WWG Choir. The solos and ensembles have been rehearsing. Every participant has his/her music and rehearsal tape. Every group does some rehearsing during choir each week as well as meeting with Mrs. Knott. We hope to get the music selection committee together early this week to make choices for spring.
Music Goals: "If Music Be the Food of Love" We have worked our way through the A and B section and halfway through section C. Our goals will be to finish the C section; link it with B, and then work on the ending. "Loch Lomond" Goals this week include finishing part A and commencing part B. "B" is extremely rhythmic and we'll need to pay close attention to the details
Voice Skills: The alto section is working on their tone, the sopranos are working on resonance, the tenors are working on strength and the basses are focusing on blend.
Music Reading Skills: At the present time our reading has been focused on the music we are learning. Every section reads/sings all parts initially for practice. We discuss the many facets included in each song. This quarter we are especially focusing on singing phrases well.
Listening: Later in the week we will use risers to have sections perform for the choir and encourage listening and encouraging.
