Choir 4th Q 06.07 Lesson Plans
Week: 04/02/2007 Instructor: Constance Knott Academics
Announcements: We are happy to report that we reached our goal and achieved a superior rating at contest last Saturday. The students worked very diligently with great concentration and maturity over these last weeks. It was very gratifying to earn the scores that they deserved. Now we turn our attention to the solo/ensemble contest that will happen in just two weeks! Over the next two days we will make the final decisions as to which groups and individuals can be completely prepared by the 16th. They all have tapes and music to practice on their own... but as we all know that doesn't always happen. This week we turn our attention to our new pieces: "Ev'ry Time I Feel the Spirit", "Praise We Sing to Thee", and "Turn the World Around". We'll have to see if we can accomplish all of those in the time we have before our spring recital/concert.
Music Reading/Theory: We will use our new songs to practice music reading. Eventually we will return to the exercises we worked with during the first semester.
Voice Skills: We will emphasize some of the concepts that were brought to our attention at contest; including more unified vowels, more 'height' and 'open throat at the back' and the 'sigh' in the tone to even out the registers.
Listening; Our activities this week will probably be limited to listening to recordings of groups doing the new songs we will perform at our spring concert.
