Choir 4th Q 06.07 Lesson Plans
Week: 05/28/2007 Instructor: Constance Knott Academics
Announcements: Tie up loose ends, look at the year, dot the "i's" and cross the "t's". It's been a very exciting year for WWG Choir. The students have been a rewarding and responsive, as well as mature group. We reached every goal we set out to accomplish. THis week we will be filling out yearend questionnaire/ summaries, repertoire (song list)sheets, doing one more listening analysis of ourselves as we watch a video from our spring concert and finishing learning "You Raise Me Up", our piece for graduation.
Voice Skills: We've been working range and flexibility, while practicing intervals and chords. At this point in the year students are hopefully "putting it all together" vocally and our emphasis is on meeting the needs of the songs we prepare.
Music Reading: We will spend some time revisiting solfege reading and key signatures.
Listening Analysis: We have a video and a CD recording from our concert. We will use a detailed form that guides our listening and helps us analyze what we are hearing. That should happen along about THursday.
Music Analysis: We'll use transparencies and make note of the precision necessary to sing "You Raise Me Up" and take into account the composer's directions. THere are some challenging dynamic markings and emotional responses required in its performance
