Choir 4th Q 08.09 Lesson Plans
Week: 04/06/2009 Instructor: Constance Knott Academics
Announcements: A lot is going on! Special groups practice at regular times; Choralaires will meet in auditorium each week now until solo/ensemble contest (May2 in Jackson). I asked the girls to come promptly. We continue to work hard on solos and ensembles, each day groups practice during choir time. We are down to just 17 school days. The students still need to practice on their own and be sure to come to their practice sessions with Mrs. Knott. All 9 of our audition students were accepted into the All State FFA choir, so we hope to have music and rehearsal tapes ready for them by the end of the week.
Repertoire: Goals for the week: Brush up our contest pieces again. Memorize and record Ahrirang. Work towards memory on Gloria. Finish note and rhythms on Nothin' Gonna Stumble.
Singing Skills: Fourth quarter as stated last week is a time of synthesis:"Knowing the skills it takes to improve your own personal voice" We focus on the entire range of the voice (registration) and being as musical as possible when we interpret a piece
Music Reading Skills: We are working intervals of chords and sightreading the same. Two of our new pieces for spring have some challenging rhythms.
Music Analysis and Listening: We are tying a lot of loose ends this quarter with study sheets, Pop Song presentations, information on Picaflor topics (Guatamala), a test, and song analysis sheet, and listening papers (we will do together). This week students will complete one study sheet on "Blessed Be the Name of the Lord"
