Monday:
Announcements: Well small group contest was a great day for us. We took a record 32 events and earned 17 superior and 15 excellent ratings. There should be some news about it in the paper this week. Our spring concert and recital will be on May 19th. The recital is at 6:30 and the concert is at 7:30. So we are gearing up for that big event. We are encouraging the students to dress up and go for color! We will provide a bus from Walnut Grove. All special groups will meet this week as usual and we will ask the accompanists to come one day to review the selections they will play at the recital. Again we appreciate the work of Joyce Madson, Deb Warner and Elizabeth Johnson. Reminders to students needing to do make up work for absences: there are a variety of ideas available to do.I will keep telling the students about checking their grade and how many weeks we have left. We also will be giving the students a record of their points earned in choir this year and what medals they have earned. The choir will vote on Outstanding Choral Students on Monday. Its likely the newspaper will be here to snap a few pictures too. We are excited to learn that Steven Pfarr was selected for All State Choir! This is the equivalent of making it to the state wrestling tournament and placing! Our singers who took part in All STate FFA choir had a great learning experience too.
Tuesday:
Music Repertoire: Memory is the key word this week. We will bring all the pieces together into a concert flow with our accompanists. We have a nice variety of styles and moods to share in our concert. Everything from Haydn to Korean folksongs to gospel to Austrian folksongs. And of course we will do our two contest selections.
Wednesday:
Paperwork: The students need to get their Blessed Be analysis sheet in. We are going to be studying together for a written test next week.
Thursday:
Voice Skills: 4th quarter is all about reviewing and synthesis of learning. HOw to do your best singing all the time... how to interpret the music the way the composer intended. Our lessons are more group "jointly made" decisions and ideas about music interpretation.
Friday:
Esprit de Corps: This is an exciting time to be singing and performing. The year is coming to a close and we are at the top of our game; its truly fun to work together every day.
