Choir 4th Q 08.09 Lesson Plans
Week: 05/25/2009 Instructor: Constance Knott Academics
Announcements: The end of the year is here. UNBELIEVABLE! What a year it has been! We owe many thanks to our great seniors in choir for such a rewarding year. Hopefully they have instilled in the underclassmen a desire to lead and accomplish goals that we set for ourselves in the years to come. This choir improved all year and sang with a lot of heart. We really enjoyed doing our spring concert.
We are working on our final selection for graduation: This Day. The seniors picked a thoughtful, emotional song for the choir to learn. We need to get it performance ready in the next three days. We will be filling out year end evaluations summarizing reflections, advice, good memories and touchstones for next year.
Every day we will sing some songs from the year just completed, as well as two pieces from our just finished spring concert. We will review the voice skills consistently as we sing! low breath set, high sternum, rhythmic energy, creating the sounds inside words, singing at the core of the pitch, listening, energizing the sound throughout the phrase, floating spinning forward, create the shape of the phrase, and deliver the meaning of the text, always include dynamic contrasts. There, in one fell swoop, the entire choir curriculum for voice skills.
Paper work: Before the end of the week all students need to have completed the following: analysis chart for "Blessed Be", analysis chart for "This Day", Pop Song summary, assisting in small group questionnaire of year.
