Monday:
Goals this week:
Voice Skills: open mouth, spinning breath energy in the sound, doing the consonants. Reading Skills: continue in key of C, reading note names and solfege names, simple rhythm patterns, multi tasking. Song Analysis: Thomas Tallis canon, then how the song is put together in "May Joyful Music Fill the Air". Listening Skills:continue chord singing, interval relationships, scale tones, improving overall tone of the group.
Tuesday:
Warm Up work will include rounds just for boys, and rounds just for girls. We will emphasize healthy relaxed but well supported singing and sound. We will continue to work on good posture and alignment. A number of exercises will concentrate on relaxed vowels with a choral sound.
Wednesday:
Let Joyful Music Fill the Air: we'll look at the canon from which this piece is derived, analyze the text and phrasing, encourage well executed diction and vowels, as well as sight sing the notes in both solfege (do-re-mi) and letter names
Thursday:
Still, Still, Still: Discuss German carol, analyze the text. Look at the way the parts work together, note the key and the rhythms used. Again practice singing note names and solfege, find the underlying pulse and rhythm patterns.
Friday:
Free and Glad to Be Me: Especially work the second half of this piece, concentrating on the text and the necessary diction; re-emphasizing the interesting syncopated rhythms.
