Review Estrada's thesis type, warrants, evidence/support types

Analyzing and evaluating argument--analyzing: understanding what's being claimed, understanding what the reasons are for supporting the claim (warrants), and understanding what types of evidence is delivered; evaluating: using STAR--sufficiency, typicality, accuracy, and relevance: read the little handout, read Evidence; read 280-285; analyze (identify and indicate the type) and evaluate (using the STAR criteria) the evidence Etzioni uses: select one of the four STAR criteria, and write a paragraph discussion.5 page scope, MLA formatted, strong topic sentence, due Thursday end of the day

Another sort of model to go along with Classical, Toulmin, Rogerian, (questioning): syllogism: the definitions--premise, conclusion; read Owl's Logic in Argumentative Writing;
Reasoned argument--locate two additional sources on debatable issue, annotate and add to annotated bibliography, give the two new ones to me, formatted MLA, due Monday end of the day

Reasoned argument--paper assigned: scope, evaluation criteria; thesis/claim due on Monday end of day; outline evaluation criteria, outline due Wednesday end of the day; 1st draft due Wed. 5/4

Review syllogism--create a a good syllogism, create a syllogism with a false conclusion, create a good syllogism with a premise or premises that can be called into question, use the models in the handout, due Monday end of the day
