Analyzing and evaluating argument--analyzing: understanding what's being claimed, understanding what the reasons are for supporting the claim (warrants), and understanding what types of evidence is delivered; evaluating: using STAR--sufficiency, typicality, accuracy, and relevance: read the little handout, read Evidence; read 280-285; analyze (identify and indicate the type) and evaluate (using the STAR criteria) the evidence Etzioni uses: select one of the four STAR criteria, and write a paragraph discussion.5 page scope, MLA formatted, strong topic sentence, due Thursday end of the day
