What is this? Look at writing tips for this essay (see handout)
In lab: browse the essays at thisibelieve.org. Pick 3 to print.
Finish draft of definition essay or begin reading the belief essays you've printed.
Look for these things as you read each essay: What is the structure? What is purpose? Does essay describe? Does it define? Does it do something else? What is the tone? Did you enjoy reading it? Write your answers to these questions. Due tomorrow.
Be prepared to discuss these tomorrow. Think about your own beliefs. Do some of your prewriting in your head. This is thought time, a critical part of the writing process.
Discuss essays and hand in answers to questions.
Make a list of things we believe in.

Be prepared to write a first draft tomorrow.
Discuss comma use with independent clauses. Complete wksht. p. 265 in class.

Read handout on compare/contrast essays including Catton essay
Do UD #2; AM #1 and 2 (type #2 as a paragraph or write paragraph in long-hand); DRS #1 and 2
Final draft of belief essay due end of hour.
