Review prewriting strategies. Using any one (Listing/Brainstorming, Classical Invention, Clustering, Freewriting/Looping, Cubing, Reporter's Formula), select any topic on p. 21, then select one of the prewriting activities--generate two pages of material.

Description--the qualities of life: an object, a person, a place, an event: break into groups; each group lists the qualites of one.

Select one of the paintings; list details/qualities.
Folder design.

Audience/tone--review definitions; what are some tones, what kinds of language exist; do activities 3-4, p.p. 25-26.

Topic sentence writing; write a paragraph of description on the painting from Monday.
Figurative language--metaphor, simile, personification: definition; in groups, describe a picture using each in order.

The personal experience essay--definition, example; read "A Fateful Day", p.p. 56-58, do questions 3, 5.
Abstraction vs. concretenetss: do anger.

The personal experience essay--example; read "A Promise", p.p. 65-68, do question 6.

Read the guidelines, p.p. 58-59, which is the most important, why.

Write a personal experience essay; prewriting.
Write a personal experience essay; conference with Hannan on "the point"; drafting (1st draft due end of Monday.
