The elements of design--point, line, shape, mass, texture, color: definition, examples; find examples in magazines, explain how each is present.
Illustrator tutorial--log on, access tutorial folder, lesson one.
The principles of design--balance, contrast, rhythm, unity, proportion; definition, example, read p.p. 30-36, "Graphics for Visual Communication", questions; how can a small object on one side of a page balance an object on another?, what weighs more, dark or light? draw a picture that runs a line vertically along the "golden mean"., what's the general movement of a reader's track across the page?, draw picture boxes on a dummy sheet that would force the reader to move bottom left to top right., why push white space to the outside? what happens when there is no dominant element on a page?
