Read around mechanical scene; oxymoron: "lamentable comedy; character analysis, the mechanicals' intentions, vocabulary.
Tuesday:
Review literary elements quiz.

SpellVocab original sentences/story.

"A Midsummer Night's Dream": finish read around--character analysis, the mechanicals' intentions, vocabulary; general theme of play: relationships and more specifically--love relationships; the relationship between Theseus and Hippolyta, and the relationship between Demetrius, Lysander, and Hermia.
Read Act 1, Scene 1 to line 182; metaphor ("Like to a stepdam or a dowager/Long withering out a young man's revenue."), personification ("Four nights will quickly dream away the time;"), extended metaphor ("one/To whom you are but a form in wax/By him imprinted, and within his power/To leave the figure or disfigure it.").
Read Act 1, Scene 1, line 183 to end, questions.
Wednesday:
"A Midsummer Night's Dream"--review questions; graphic representations of the relationships; read around Act 1, Scene 2 in small groups--questions: list the characters in the "play", how many characters does Bottom want to play?, what's the play about?, what do you think the lion will do?, where would you have the action (of the mechanicals) take place? what would you have them wear? how would you have the mechanicals arranged?, block a few lines.

Review spellvocab original sentences.

"A Midsummer Night's Dream"--see video of act 1, scene 2; memorization assignment: act 2, scene 1, line 125-142; read by parts act 2, scene 1 to line 194; add to graphic representation of relationships; read act 2, scene 1 to line 194, questions.

Friday:
Spellvocab quiz.

"A Midsummer Night's Dream"--memorization exercise; review questions; read to end of act, questions.
