Good Writing--Clarity, Coherence, Form
Wednesday:
Exposition--The topic sentence: find topic sentences in ex. 1, p. 408-409. Supporting strategies: see list p.p. 410-411; identify the strategies p.p. 411-412; write any three of the paragraphs whose topic sentences are on p. 413, then select any one and write the paragraph a second time using a different strategy--four paragraphs/four strategies.

Good writing--denotation/connotation, ex. 2, p. 380; precise language, 1, p. 380; avoiding demonstratives and "there".

Thursday:
Good writing--denotation/connotation, ex. 2, p. 380; precise language, 1, p. 380; avoiding demonstratives and "there" and "it".

Select any one of the paragraphs from yesterday and type using precise language and form.

The five paragraph essay structure--the components: hook, thesis, body paragraph, conclusion.

The state writing test--prompt examples.
Friday:
The state writing test--prompt examples; turning prompts into thesis statements.

Moving from the thesis statement to body paragraph ideas; turning ideas into topic sentences.

Developing topic sentences.

Conclusion strategies.

Hooking strategies.
