Reading comprehension--literal/inferrential; reading inventories--Flachman: prereading, reading, post reading; PALBEG (Purpose, Authority, Logic, Bias, Evidence, Gain): defined, practice--read "New Casino", do Purpose/Authority/Bias/Gain analysis.
Review Caesar plot--in groups of three, list events. Read Act III, Scene 1, 147 to end of scene in groups; respond to questions.
Reading comprehension--"New Casino Would Hurt Outstate": emotionally loaded language, fact vs. opinion; read "Better Ways to Save Your Life Than Guns", do PALBEG analysis (not Logic or Evidence), underline emotionally loaded language, circle opinions.
"Julius Caesar" finish group worksheet Act III, Scene 1.
Reading comprehension--review "Better Ways to Save Your Life"--emotionally loaded language, discuss fact/opinion--do first part of worksheet, sources analysis, PALBEG analysis.
read to end of Act--Brutus's and Antony's affect on the crowd; do vocab questions: what did Caesar do that was so valient? how often do the valient "taste" death? list three valient acts a person might do in a lifetime; do Open Book Test on Act III (extended response 14).
Review "Julius Caesar" reading/questions/open book test.
Identify persuasive patterns in "New Casino" and "Better Ways"; logical fallacies--Post Hoc, Red Herring, Ad Hominem, Faulty Analogy, Bandwagon: define/illustrate, create examples.
Make up work.
