Tuesday:
Review sentence elements: verb, subject, direct object--sentence elements in simple, complex, and compound sentences; ex. 21, p.p. 68-69, list the verb, subject, direct object.

Midsummer: read around, Act 1, Scene 2; who are the people? what are they doing? who's in charge?
Shakespeare's language: pun, malapropism, metaphor/extended metaphor/buried metaphor, personification; read "Shakespearean Wordplay", p.p. xxi-xxvi.


Wednesday:
Review sentence elements: verb, subject, direct object; ex. handout.

Midsummer: read around, Act 1, Scene 2; who are the people? what are they doing? who's in charge?
Thursday:
Quiz on sentence elements: verb, subject, direct object definition and identification.

Midsummer: read Act I, Scene 1, to Ln 128, questions.
Friday:
Review quiz on sentence elements.
Sentence elements: indirect objects; definition, identification; the importance of position in English sentences; ex. 22, p.p. 70-71.

Midsummer: review Act I, Scene 1, to Ln 128.
Reader's journal--definition, response options, expectations.
See the two versions of Act I, Scene 2. Which version do you prefer? Why? What sort of a guy is Bottom; give evidence.
