Monday:
Expository paragraphs--review terms: topic sentence, supporting sentences, clincher sentence, closure, exposition; review strategies for support; type the two paragraphs assigned on Tuesday last, after each indicate the supporting strategies and the organization pattern; at the bottom, separate a copy of one of the paragraphs into sentences (edit if a fragment or run on) and indicate the sentence type: simple, compound, complex, or compound/complex

Expository essay structure: the intro, the body, the conclusion; definitions

Who/whom--identifying sentence elements; with questions; in clauses, ex. 8, p.p. 559-560

Tuesday:
The expository essay--the intro: read p.p. 382-387; questions; outline "River Rafting Teaches Worthwhile Lessons," after outlining, answer questions: what hooking strategy? what supporting strategy(s) are used in the second body paragraph?

Who/whom--in clauses; ex. A and B, p. 148



Wednesday:
Pass out the expo essay sample. Have the students read it then outline it.
Give the students the additional question on the board: What supporting strategy or strategies are used in each of the body paragraphs? What hooking strategy? What concluding strategy?

Who/whom quiz
