Music Listening Activities:
Create a descriptive word bank of adjectives and adverbs for the elements of music
Listen to Bach Brandenburg Concerto, a second Country Style, examine the timbre of different vocal sounds depending on styles (opera, country, gospel, a cappella vocal groups), start listening to our next genre: Jazz
Rhythm Practice Activities:
Work with dotted rhythms this week, and practice writing and taking dictation with sixteenth note patterns as well.
Continue with drum playing
Note Reading Activities:
More note placement on staff memory, playing the matching notes on keyboards, singing and playing the c scale and the g scale. Examine the minor scales. Quiz on whole step and half step patterns.
Work on playing triads throughout the entire scale, both hands
Group Singing/Improvising/Accompanying:
Folk songs: The Fox, Old Betty, The Keeper, start 900 Miles, Babylon.
Do the folk dances, improvise drum patterns, experiment with creating harmony on Orff instruments
Music Creating: Ensemble or Solo Work:
Continue with creating melody for composition one. Teacher demonstrate how it will work with class playing rhythm pattern, keyboard bank, and song laying over the top in C Major or a minor.
Do a second time of African drum patterns.
