Grade Two 3rd Q 01.02 Lesson Plans
Week: 03/04/2002 Instructor: Debra Berg Academics
Spelling: We will study words that are homophones.
Basic words are: plane, plain, tail, tale, rode, road, hole, whole,
to, too, two, see, by. Challenge words are: threw, through
Math: We will be renaming to add two 2-digit numbers. We will add
a 1-digit number to a 2-digit number with and without renaming.
(35+8=) We will add two 2-digit numbers with sums as multiples of ten,
with and without renaming. (24+26=) (50+30=)
Reading: We will read the story "Tony's Hard Work Day". The vocabulary
for this story: ax, dirt, hammer, chimney, breathe, stitches, tiny,
carefully, curtains, foot, wove. We will work with the sounds for "er",
"ir", "ur", and "ie". We will draw conclusions and follow written and
oral directions.
Science: We will discuss how the moon changes during the month. We
will attempt to make constellations during one of our investigations.
We will use a Venn diagram to compare planets to stars.
Social Studies: We will continue our unit on maps.
English: We will study the different kinds of letters such as get well,
a thank you, or friendly letter and an invitation. We will study the
parts of a letter and write letters to the second graders in WG.

Handwriting: The lower-case cursive letters of l and h will be introduced.
