High School Choir 9-12 4th Q 14.15 Lesson Plans
Week: 03/23/2015 Instructor: Constance Knott Academics
Second week of 4th Quarter! Wow!
We are working with great determination on solo and ensemble music now.
If we hold together we have 8 solos, 8 duets, 2 ensembles, and 1 chamber group. Shirley Iverson and Mavis Jansma have been coming in this year to assist with accompanying the students. They also meet with me every week. All of them have had access to recordings since the end of January. This week we want to get some new music underway.
Analysis and LIteracy Standards:
Last week we did a song "discovery session" from the standpoint of terminology we learned in quarter three.
This week we will mark the solfege in one of our new pieces.
We will practice sight singing.
We will also practice rhythms on drums.
On a third piece we will do a group PowerPoint analysis
Start new terminology
Voice Skills:
End of the year we concentrate on personal best singing; seeing how far we have come as individuals. All skills start to come to a synthesis.
"This Day" super sensitive piece with meaningful lyrics;good for rhythm study
"i Cantar" Spanish piece very syncopated, joyful, layered harmonies
"Nine Hundred Miles" American folk song; good reading piece
