Monday:
Announcements: Pops Concert is completed! Onto the next things: April 16th concert and April 17th clinic at Minnesota State University-Mankato. (More about the latter in an upcoming letter). Cookie Dough sales have completed and the order should arrive within two weeks from the factory in Canada.
We continue with journal writing
Tuesday:
Repertoire: We have some great music that we will be learning!
"Can You Hear?" emphasizes three part chords, changing meters and tempos, changing moods.
"Joshua!" is a spiritual in a minor key, diction will be stressed, lots of syncopation and again three part harmony
"Play for Me a Simple Harmony" this Irving Berlin classic showcases ragtime styles. It is a layered series of countermelodies with jazz rhythms
"Sansa Kroma" will be introduced this week. It is an African piece we will sing in the native language. It is accompanied only by percussion. The rhythms are very syncopated

Vocal Skills:
Energized phrasing, practice diction, continue vowel work
Thursday:
Music Reading and Theory Skills:
Work with stepwise reading, looking at posters and practicing intervals
Friday:
Analysis Skills:
We will analyze Sansa Kroma on Friday
