Monday:
ANNOUNCEMENTS: We completed our portion of the Pops Concert last week and now it is time to really concentrate and work hard on our ongoing projects.
Tuesday:
COMPOSING
1.All students have compositions underway.
2.All have completed the rhythmic portions.
3.Most have the melody worked out to go with the rhythms.
4.Mrs. Knott works with the students to create chordal harmony for the melody creations.
5.Some students are already working on the next step of transferring their composition into Finale. Finale is a computer program where students type in their song, it prints it professionally, but also they can hear it being played.
6. At this point the students must also learn to play their own song on the keyboard. This is an ongoing process assisted by Mrs. Klasse
7. The final step in the process is to create an arrangement with Garage Band. Garage Band is a computer program that has pre-programmed sounds and patterns that they can match and add to their compositions
Wednesday:
GUITARS
There are a certain number of students who still do not participate with guitar playing. It is part of the requirements in the class. We will be starting new pieces for the next concert which include three new chords. We will emphasize strumming patterns.
"Pay Me My Money Down", and "This Land is Your Land"
Thursday:
ENSEMBLES:
One important feature of the year-end concert is ensembles. The students will be choosing one person's composition around which to build an ensemble. Percussionists, xylophones, guitars, keyboards, piano: everyone will play something.
