Life Music 7-8 1st Q 09.10 Lesson Plans
Week: 11/02/2009 Instructor: Constance Knott Academics
Announcements: This class is an adventure. We are finding our way as we seek to tailor the learning for the myriad of students. Peggy Klasse has been volunteering by helping the students with their keyboard skills, and Mr. Richards has been sharing his guitar expertise with the students. We continue to work on drums and rhythm skills and our abilities to read and write music. We aim to have the students: Learn and Write/Read and Practice/Create and Perform. By the end of the week the goal of every student is to have completed his/her teal colored skill check-off sheet that includes written work, keyboard skills, drum skills, guitar skills, and creating music skills. This week we will divide them into 7 small groups.
This week will be devoted to "finishing". Monday: Students will take note of what they need to do to complete their skills sheet on the first page. Second, those who have finished page one of their skills sheet will devote further time to their personal compositions: playing them, creating a drum part, deciding on how they want to add harmony, and if they want color percussion or Orff instruments added and what setting they will use on the keyboard if that is how they will play the melody. We will have a demonstration on Monday. Then we will go to work on finishing skills check offs
Today will be similar to Monday.
