"Hamlet"--Summary; the religious environment, why Hamlet doesn't act; summarize literary devices: pun, parallel, soliloquy, elipsis, tragic flaw, tragedy, comedy. Read 2.1 to 2.2.158, questions.

Tuesday:
"Hamlet"--review questions; poetic forms, writing iambic pentameter. Read to end in part. Consider the irony in Hamlet's speech to Rosencrantz and Guildenstern; consider the second soliloquy, questions 3b-e, p. 140.
Wednesday:
"Hamlet"--reivew questions; consider why Hamlet doesn't act and his new plan. Theater prior to Elizabethan theater: the miracle play (mystery play), the morality play; read "The Growth of Theater in England", p.p. 111-113.
Thursday:
Surprise quiz: literary devices, poetic forms, theater forms, "Hamlet". The big memorization/soliloquy interpretation assignment. Read in group 3.1; read 3.2, questions.
Friday:
"Hamlet"--review questions. Read in group 3.3. See video through 3.3.
