Review "Hamlet", Act III through the play scene; read to the end of the Act; respond to the following: What's the King's plan for Hamlet? What's Polonius's plan? What's Hamlet compare himself to in his talk with Rosen. and Guild? Why? Select any one and write a well developed paragraph in response.
Work on "To be, or not to be" interpretation.
Tuesday:
Review "Hamlet", Act III--metaphorical treatment of Rosen. and Guild., the irony of Polonius, the language of Hamlet's anger at his mother, Zeffirelli's interpretation of the Hamlet/Mother scene.
Work on "To be, or not to be" interpretation.
Wednesday:
Read "Hamlet", Act IV; draw a picture that shows "how a king may go a progress through the guts of a beggar", how is Hamlet's soliloquey reminiscient of the earlier one (O, what a rogue and peasent slave am I), what's the king propose to sooth Laertes? why hadn't the king acted against Hamlet? what's the king and Laertes plan? what are the differences between Laertes's reaction to having a father murdered and Hamlet's? Select any one and write a well developed paragraph in response.
Work on "To be, or not to be" interpretation.
Thursday:
Review "Hamlet", Act IV; type paragraph.
Work on "To be, or not to be" interpretation; write a response to the activity: what was best about it? what learning did it lead to?
Friday:
Present "To be, or not to be" interpretation; type response to the activity.
Read "Hamlet", Act V; do review handout.
