Students are to have read pages 201-205: A land defined by mountains.
Students will read and discuss what are the main physical characteristics that affect daily life in Mexico’s heartland region as well as how od Mexico’s four coastal plains regions differ.

Key terms: plateau peninsula irrigation sinkhole
Students will compare the characteristics of mexico’s five regions from a list they make in class. They will determine from this how each region is unique, but yet has very few characteristics in common.

Maps are due today

Students will complete the worksheet Geography of Mexico for Tuesday

Students are to read pages 207-211. From the reading they should be able to describe the roots of Mexican culture and be able to compare patterns of rural and urban life in Mexico.
In class students will discuss the culture of the ancient Indian, colonial Spanish and modern Mexican.

Terms to know: hacienda, land redistribution, subsistence farming, cash crop and migrant worker

Students will be given a worksheet which will be due on Friday


Wed. Students will work in groups to create a mural on the land regions of Mexico.


Thursday: students will finish the mural if necessary.

Discussion will continue on why most Mexicans live in urban areas while poverty continues to be a part of rural life.
