Review Gilgamesh, "The Story of the Flood" and "The Return": the reason for the flood in Gilgamesh and in Genisis 6-9, the presentation of the gods and God, the response by the gods and God in the aftermath of the flood; repetition in Gilgamesh and in Genisis 6-9; find in groups metaphor, simile, and personification in the two passages.
Spell/vocab (Gilgamesh) review matching,questions.
Review the history of "The Epic of Gilgamesh". Read about the Dead Sea Scrolls, p.p. 52-53.
Bonus: do a brief timeline of written language from pictorgraph to phonic alphabet.
The Epic of Beowulf: list epic qualities.
Chinese literature--a history, the schools; read "The Analects" and "The Book of Songs", respond to Analyzing 1-3, p. 216, WM, and Applying 4, p. 221 WM.
Review spell/vocab (Gilgamesh) questions; use word in original sentences.
Chinese literature--Taoism; read Tao Chien; respond to Interpreting 3-4, p.226, WM; read Li Po respond to Interpreting 1-2, p. 237, WM; read Lao Tzu, respond to Applying 7, p. 211, also read the "Lao Tzu collection".
Review spell/vocab (Gilgamesh) original sentences
Chinese literature--Buddism; read Wang Wei; locate other Chinese Buddist authors from internet search, select two define them in terms of their Buddist character.
